Description
Sgiob Èireannach (Irish Skib)
These baskets are culturally very important to the Irish. They were made originally to strain and serve potatoes, acting as both a sieve and a table, and were often huge and robust to sit a big family around. Nowadays, they are a bit finer and more artistic, made for hanging on walls, or being a centrepiece on a big table (but I welcome you to strain potatoes through it too!). This one features three strong colours of stripped buff willow, Flanders Red and Dicky Meadows, with a splash of Black Maul in the border too.
Dimensions –
height – 6cm/2.5in
width (outside of border) – 55cm/21.5in
